The first Kiehl's product that I bought was the renowned Lip Balm #1. Following that, I remembered I got the Ultra Facial Moisturizer because I needed a light moisturizer and everyone seemed to rave about this moisturizer. The products sold in Singapore is only of skincare (none of the interesting lip paints I heard so much about). Naturally, I wouldn't always be checking Kiehl's since I'm not big into buying skincare for myself. And Kiehl's is not cheap in Singapore! Imagine spending US$9 for the tube of lip balm!

A side note: Please bear in mind that I'm living in Singapore where humidity is 95% average.

Kiehl's Lip Balm #1
Although I like this lip balm, I do have to agree with some others who said this feels like Vaseline. And it really reminds me of it. Maybe because of the texture. It did work overnight wonders and was tasteless but I felt it's quite gloppy. At one stage, the lip balm even turned watery. I had to put it in the fridge to harden it.

Ultra Facial Moisturizer
Since I swapped this away, I couldn't really remember if I bought the one with SPF. Like Bobbi Brown's Face Lotion, this one comes in both normal ones and those with SPFs. Since a lot of people raved about this, it must and ought to be good. But on my skin (plus the humidity in S'pore), this one stayed ON my skin. Hours later, I could still feel the stickiness of the moisturizer on my skin. Not nice. How am I going to put makeup on?

Gentle Foaming Cleanser
I was showing my friend to the Kiehl's Shelf when she came across a little basket full of small packets of skincare/haircare etc. She asked me if those were samples, and thinking that we were in Singapore (where samples are scarce), I told her nah, it couldn't be. We asked the SA and she told us it was! So I ended up with just one - the gentle foaming cleanser. I like the texture and smell, but the bad news is: it didn't really wash off my eyeliner. My aim now, after discovering so many facial cleansers, is to find one which is good and feels nice and can wash off my whole face of makeup at one go. This one didn't work out that greatly, for those reasons. Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion
So now that I know Kiehl's make samples, I received three more samples the day after in an order I made. Oh goody! More chance to try Kiehl's. And why not? I like the enticing long names of the product names.

I didn't really know how to use this. So I applied with a cotton pad all over my face. It smelled like Dettol (an antibacterial wash) and felt very cool on my face. I didn't really mind the smell, it just gave me the impression that I was putting heavy medicine on my face. And it is meant for acne blemishes and rashes, not that I had any of them when I tried the astringent. Why do I need astringent? I have no idea since astringents gave me the impression of toners with medicinal purposes.

Castille "Original Musk' Bath and Shower Soapy Liquid Body Cleanser
This one smelled nothing and is colourless. It's soapy alright. I hardly use soaps at all. And I like this no nonsensical shower gel for the purpose - cleaning my body. It didn't really moisturizes my body. It's just plain old soap in liquid form. However, since Kiehl's products do not come cheap here in Singapore, I guess this will cost me at least $20 (equivalent of US$15). For a body cleanser that just plainly cleanses (without fragrancing me), I think I will skip this.

Leave-In Conditioner with Panthenol and Coconut Oil
I'm not a big fan of leave-in conditoners because I always believe that leave-in conditoners never flatter flat hair. I do not even know how to use one. For this one, I put it on after I shampooed and dried my hair with a towel. Since I went to sleep right after that, I did not know if it did moisturize my hair or not. However, it definitely did not leave my hair sticky. And my hair felt really soft. Was it the conditioner? I couldn't really say. So I decide to try it again. This time, I decided to put the conditoner right after my hair has dried. It worked great! It left my hair fluffy (which I thought impossible since leave in conditioners give me the impression of weighing down hair) and silky. Two thumbs up!

Ultra Protection Moisturizing Eye Gel, $28
I bought this because of the high SPF (18!). Suddenly I realised my face was protected with sunscreen, but I never thought of protecting my eyes from the sun! Horror of horrors!! So I tried this one on my hand in the store, felt good, and didn't feel sticky at all.

When I bought it and tried it on in the morning, it went on a little greasy but not too much. That was fine since I used concealer under my eyes and the greasiness helped the concealer to blend. My question is: if this doesn't contain titanium dioxide, is it really sunscreen at all? Email me at Karen if you have the answer. Thanks.

Light Nourishing Eye Cream, $16.75
Since I already have another eye cream for night, I could really skip this but at that time when I bought the abovementioned eye gel, Kiehl's was having a 15% discount. So why not jump in and get the eye cream too?

Luckily I chose to use this at night. Hours after I put on this, I could still feel the stickiness of the cream on my skin. I know I will not use this under makeup. It would slide my concealer off. On the other hand, it proves to be moisturizing enough to melt the driest concealer around. This cream is meant for oily skin and also, people who are sensitive to sunscreen and more importantly (for me), puffiness-prone skin. At S$39 (about US$24) a tube, it is actually one of the cheapest eye creams around. Even cheaper than Philosophy's Eye Believe. Since I do not mind the 'creaminess' of this, I guess I would stick to it (until a miracle eye cream is found).

If you can, try to ask for samples. I like Kiehl's sample packs. Very nicely packaged. The opening actually closes by itself, if torn properly. I'm not saying it's airtight or anything, but it's closed at least. Also, for products like cleansers and toners (for the face basically), it really is a lot of product packed in a sample pack. It could last me for a week, at least.
